Artist Statement:
Throughout my work there are two ongoing relationships. One relationship is between the classic and the modern,
where a modern concept is interpreted through a classical medium or vice-versa. In doing this, I hope to inspire the viewer
to look both to the past and the future in contemplating his or her definition of the present. Within this space, I create
the second relationship, which is a delicate balance between the natural and manmade aspects of the world we live in. Together
with these relationships, I embrace the tactile essence of sculpture by using materials that create rich, varied and unusual
surface textures. My work is a balance between opposites: old and new, of nature and of man, which I choose to interpret through
the iconic symbols of horses and figures.
